অতীতে কোন কাজ *হইতেছিল* বুঝাইতে ঘটমান অতীত কাল (Past Continuous Tense) হয়। 

Symptoms  :  বাংলা বাক্যে ক্রিয়াপদের শেষে  _*-তেছিলাম, -তেছিল, তেছিলে*_, ইত্যাদি, থাকে  । 

In a English sentence, an auxiliary verb : one of _*was or were*_ is used  after the subject, and the suffix _*-ing*_ is added to the finite verb. 

উদাহরণ  -

        আমি মাছ ধরি_*তেছিলাম* -

        I _*was*_ catch *ing* fish. 

Example 2: The boy _*was*_ read_*ing* a book. 

Example 3  :  The girls *were* sing *ing* songs. 

Example 4 - The poet was composing a poem. 

6  :  What *were* you do *ing*  ? 

7. The sun was setting in the West. 

8. My son was sleeping on the bed. 

9. The grave diggers were digging a grave. 

10. The Indian medical students in Ukraine, mostly girls, *were* runn *ing* helter skelter from Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, towards the border of Rumania to escape from the bombs dropped by Russian paratroopers.
